About the Principal, Dr. DeBruycker--Dr. Robert Carson, Department Head of Education at Montana State University-Bozeman, summarized Principal Kim DeBruyckers education on May 11, 2002 when she spoke to the 2002 College of Educations graduating class and was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award. Kim DeBruycker entered the undergraduate program in Elementary Education in 1990 as a student over traditional age, a single mother with four children to raise. She completed two degrees in 1993, elementary education with a reading endorsement and child development/family science degree. Kim graduated as MSUs outstanding senior woman along with the following awards and honors: Septemviri, the top seven Montana State University seniors; Phi Kappa Phi, academically the top 5% of all Montana State University students; Mortar Board Senior Honorarium President being awarded a national award for a Chapter of Excellence; A.L. Strand Award for outstanding leadership; Whos Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges; MSU Alumni/Bozeman Chamber of Commerce Excellence Award, and the Womens Center Woman of Achievement Award. Kim began her teaching career in Bozeman, Montana at Chief Joseph Middle School and then taught for three years at Sacajawea Middle School where she established a reputation for having strong commitments and tremendous energy in everything she did. Highly regarded as an educator, Kim returned to MSU in 1998 as a graduate student in Educational Leadership, earning a Masters degree and her administrative certification in 1999, and then entering the doctoral program in educational leadership. Kim became the Principal and Superintendent of Gallatin Gateway School in July of 1999. Everyone who has ever worked with Kim DeBruycker has been amazed at her energy, her enthusiasm, and the tremendous intelligence and integrity that she brings to her work and her professional associations.
