Gallatin Gateway School announces the 2008-09 policy for Free and Reduced-Price Meals and/or Free Milk for students whose schools participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture [National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and Special Milk Program]. The complete policy is on file in the central office and may be reviewed by any interested party.
Application forms have been mailed to each home with a letter to parents or guardians. Applications can also be downloaded at: http://www.gallatingatewayschool.com/media/pdf/lunch/FRGGSApplication08-09.pdf
To apply for free or reduced-price meals and/or free milk, households must fill out the application and return it to the school office.
If a household is eligible for food stamps the household will receive a Direct Certification letter from the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services in the mail. This letter may be used in place of the school meals application.
Applications may be submitted at any time during the year. Households will be notified of eligibility determination. At any time during the school year, program officials may verify an application. Households dissatisfied with the ruling of the officials have the right to a fair hearing. This may be done by calling or writing to: Kim DeBruycker, Superintendent, 763-4415 ext. 13.

| 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Students and Parents |
|
It is time to select your elective class offerings in the 6th, 7th, & 8th grades! Each student will be able to pick from the following elective classes: Spanish, Speech/Debate, Exploratory/Applied Science, Business Economics and Entrepreneurship, Art, Theatrical Music, and Video Editing. These classes will be offered on a quarter basis enabling students to take up to four different classes throughout the year. Students can also choose between three morning classes: Broadcasting and Public Communications, Digital Photography and Physical Conditioning. Please complete the attached form by August 15, 2008 to ensure enrollment in your top choices. Packets were mailed on Friday, August 8th! |

| School Picture Day- Monday, October 6th |
|
Individual, group and all school picture will be taken on Monday, October 6th. Preschool students and siblings are welcome to attend beginning at 8am! Watch for order packets! |

Bus Routes will remain the same and new bus routes and new times will tentatively begin September 2nd.
Sports Physicals: Volleyball physicals with Nurse Prescott has been changed to August 27 - call the office for an appointment 763-4415.
Volleyball Parent Meeting - August 28 @ 5:30 pm- Coach Coon's room
Volleyball First Practice - August 28 - must have a completed physical and athletic handbook. Handbooks will be available for students on Wednesday, August 27th.

DAILY SCHEDULE
7:30 Learning Lab Monday Friday, with office pass **No tech lab available.
7:50 Breakfast will be served must have a pass from office.
8:10- Morning Bell students enter the building from recess
8:15- Tardy Bell students must get a tardy slip from the office office may excuse breakfast eaters. Chronic student tardiness will be monitored.
11:45- Lunch Bell for grades 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and Recess Bell for grades K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd
12:05 Lunch Bell for grades K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Recess Bell for grades , 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th
12:30 Bell for all students to return to class. Students line up outside or in the lunch room and enter class with the teacher- Teachers please be prompt.
2:00- K-3 recess until 2:20.
3:10 - Dismissal Bell
3:20 - Buses depart students have 10 minutes to catch the bus. Bus WILL leave at 3:20 instruct students to come to the office if they miss the bus.
3:10 4:00 Learning Lab on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
4:00 Schools front doors close Office is closed Athletes use gym entrance. On Fridays and school days preceding holidays, the school closes at 3:30 pm

| Gallatin Gateway Student Store |

The Gallatin Gateway School student store is now open. The Salesville Mercantile is a new student project at Gallatin Gateway School. The Store will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:50am to 12:30 pm. A wide variety of school merchandise, including notebooks, erasers, pencils, pencil bags, and many more school and office supplies can be purchased with prices from 5 cents to $3.00. |

Gateway to Reading presents Preschool Storytime and Singing at the Gallatin Gateway School Library Thursdays from 10:15 am to 10:45 am Ages 0 to 5 years old Come and start your child on the path to a lifetime of enjoyment and education. |

| International Walk to School Day- Wednesday, October 8th |
|
Please join Gallatin Gateway School students, parents, staff and community members on Wednesday, October 8th for International Walk To School Day. We will meet at Zachariah Lane and HWY 191 at 7:30 am and walk to school using our community trail and tunnel. Breakfast will be served at the school for all participants. Dress for all weather conditions! |
