Middle School Classes

Our middle school curriculum includes grade-specific math, science, English/language arts, reading, and keyboarding. Students participate in one elective class each semester selected from music, art, Spanish, AV Production/robotics, exploratory science, or consumer math. Please also review the pages of our other teachers for more information.

History - Social Studies - Reading - Art - Keyboarding

Civics, geography, economics, and history are the focus of social studies as we explore the eastern hemisphere (6th), western hemisphere (7th) and U.S. History (8th) to prepare students for informed and engaged futures. Literature studies and informational texts are incorporated to enhance concepts and provide multiple perspectives of historical figures, events, and locations.

 Objectives
  • As we build knowledge of our world and country, 6-8th graders develop problem solving and critical thinking skills to draw conclusions and make decisions.
  • With a strong emphasis in reading and writing, students will complete assignments, essays, projects, and tests that are held to the highest grade-level standards.
The foundations for these courses are based on 1) Montana Standards for Social Studies, 2) College, Career, and Civic Life (C3)Framework for Social Studies State Standards, 4) Montana Common Core Standards in English Language Arts and Literacy, and 5) Essential Understandings Regarding Montana Indians.

Behavior Guidelines

Respect is the cornerstone of our interactions. In words and actions, students are expected to be honest, hard-working, and considerate of how they impact others. Because we focus on collaboration with students across all grade levels, school-appropriate language and the content of conversations are closely observed.

Each student is required to bring all materials to class on time and to maintain the organization of his/her assigned locker.

*These expectations are in accordance with and in addition to the rules and policies set forth by the Gallatin Gateway School Parent and Student handbook.
