| 2008 Spring Fling Art Auction and Youth Talent Show--Saturday, May 17, 2008 |
|
Gallatin Gateway Youth Group (“GYG”), in connection with Gallatin Gateway Partners in Education (“PIE”), will host the 2008 Spring Fling Art Auction and Youth Talent Show Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gallatin Gateway School. This event will feature the creative talents of Gallatin Gateway students in the form of visual art items produced in Mrs. Brenneman’s art classes and performance talent from Mr. Mohr’s music classes. All proceeds from the Spring Fling directly benefit Gallatin Gateway School’s art and music programs.
A barbecue dinner presented by PIE will be served from 5:30 to 7:00. The cost is $5.00 for a bratwurst plate, and $4.00 for a hot dog plate; all plates include chips, salad, lemonade and watermelon. Silent auction bidding begins when the doors open at 5:30. This year’s silent auction features a multitude of exciting items, including gift certificates from community members for a variety of goods and services; theme baskets; fabulous desserts; and several teacher experiences donated by generous Gallatin Gateway teachers. Please contact Kellie Morton at 763-9046 or Lauri Olsen at 763-4865 by Friday, May 9, 2008 if you can contribute an item or service to the silent auction.
Live music and talent acts will begin at 7:00. Students will delight the audience with a variety of instrumental, vocal and talent performances. Audition applications will be distributed to students; if you are interested in performing, please contact Mr. Mohr by May 5, 2008 for additional audition information.
The live auction of youth art items also begins at 7:00, alternating live bidding with music and talent acts. Mrs. Brenneman’s students have created the following masterpieces for this year’s live auction:
Kindergarten - Refurbished antique oak chair featuring Kindergarten art;

2nd Grade - Framed leather landscapes mirror;

| Geography Bee Winners Announced |
|
There is something to be said about the “luck of the draw.” On January 15th the classroom geography champions meet to compete for the National Geography Bee school championship. The field of competitors from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades was as strong as I’ve seen it in years. Alas, there can be only on champion, and the difficulty of some of the questions weeded out some of the most capable contestants. In the end, the final three school level National Geographic Bee winners are: 3rd Place, Drew Estey, 2nd Place, Kayl McReynolds, and our school champion is Chloe Nostrant.
Here are the results of the January 11th Middle School classroom competition;
8th Grade Winners: 1st - Christopher Ross, 2nd - Tucker Nielsen, 3rd - Drew Estey
7th Grade Winners: 1st - Kevin Arnaud, 2nd - Steven Nesbit, 3rd - Chloe Nostrant
6th Grade Winners: 1st - Morgan Brown, 2nd - Kayl McReynolds, 3rd - Cameron Detzi
